Compassionate Care from an Asian American Therapist
Dr. Jenine Saekow
Therapy available in CA, CO, NY.
Asian Americans often come to me when they’re struggling with the unspoken pressures and emotional stress that come with navigating two worlds.
They’re balancing the pressure to succeed, perfectionism, anxiety, and depression, while also feeling guilty about their family’s sacrifices. Many are shaped by the immigrant story, while struggling with the stigma of seeking therapy or talking about emotions.
As an Asian American therapist, I understand these complexities firsthand. I use evidence-based approaches to help you:
Quiet the inner critic
Learn practical strategies to cope with stress
Release perfectionism and guilt tied to generational sacrifice
Set boundaries while still showing care and respect
Make decisions with greater confidence
Therapy can help break the cycles of guilt, burnout, and perfectionism. When you’re ready, reach out for a consultation.
Therapy with me is a mix of these evidence based techniques:
-
Helps you identify and change unhelpful thoughts to improve how you feel and respond to challenges.
-
Focuses on building skills to manage intense emotions, improve communication with others, and tolerate distress.
-
Encourages you to accept difficult emotions in situations you cannot change while committing to actions that align with your values.
-
Teaches you to stay present, reduce reactivity, and respond to stress with greater calm and clarity.
Kind Words from Past Patients
“Dr. Saekow is incredibly compassionate and understanding, and she is able to provide different perspectives to help me think through issues. She was always very encouraging, yet demonstrated great empathy in helping me reframe some of the very emotional issues I was working through.”
-Tech Professional, 30s
“She gave me really specific techniques to immediately address the issues I was facing. She was extremely caring while still being honest so I felt so supported throughout the whole process. She really took the time to understand me but it felt like she knew me right away.”
-Asian American female, 20s
“I was given the tools to help me from spiraling out of control. It made me wish I'd been more proactive in seeking out therapy earlier...because who knows how much more different/better my life could've been.”

About Me
I truly love what I do. I get to sit with people during some of their most honest moments, help lighten their load, laugh with them, and be in awe at how far they’ve come.
Outside of therapy, you’ll find me soaking up the sun, catching up with family and friends, baking something sweet, and planning my next trip.
When I think about what matters most in my life, it’s the relationships I have with others, both personal and professional.

I became a therapist because I know what it feels like to be completely overwhelmed by emotions and to feel like you're supposed to handle it all on your own. In many Asian households, we're taught to keep our heads down and push through it, and to never let anything show. But that silence can take a toll.
In therapy, you don’t have to keep it all in. I draw from both personal experience and evidence-based practices to help you build a fulfilling, intentional life that honors both your cultural roots and your mental well-being.
