Therapy for Asian Americans
Dr. Jenine Saekow
I provide online therapy for adults in CA, CO, NY.
Asian Americans often come to me when they’re balancing the pressure to succeed, feelings of anxiety and depression, and the guilt that can come from cultural expectations and family sacrifices.
Many are shaped by the immigrant story, while struggling with the stigma of seeking therapy or talking about emotions.
As an Asian American therapist, I understand these complexities firsthand. I use evidence-based approaches to help you:
Quiet the inner critic
Learn practical strategies to cope with stress
Release perfectionism and guilt tied to generational sacrifice
Set boundaries while still showing care and respect
Make decisions with greater confidence
Therapy can help break the cycles of guilt, burnout, and perfectionism. Together, we can practice healthier coping tools, feel more comfortable expressing your needs, and make decisions with clarity and confidence.

Kind Words from Past Patients
“Dr. Saekow is incredibly compassionate and understanding, and she is able to provide different perspectives to help me think through issues. She was always very encouraging, yet demonstrated great empathy in helping me reframe some of the very emotional issues I was working through.”
-Tech Professional, 30s
“She gave me really specific techniques to immediately address the issues I was facing. She was extremely caring while still being honest so I felt so supported throughout the whole process. She really took the time to understand me but it felt like she knew me right away.”
-Asian American female, 20s
“I was given the tools to help me from spiraling out of control. It made me wish I'd been more proactive in seeking out therapy earlier...because who knows how much more different/better my life could've been.”
-Tech Professional, 30s
Therapy with me is a mix of these evidence based techniques:
-
Helps you identify and change unhelpful thoughts to improve how you feel and respond to challenges.
-
Focuses on building skills to manage intense emotions, improve communication with others, and tolerate distress.
-
Encourages you to accept difficult emotions in situations you cannot change while committing to actions that align with your values.
-
Teaches you to stay present, reduce reactivity, and respond to stress with greater calm and clarity.
About Me
I truly love what I do. I have been providing therapy since 2011, though my work feels like a natural extension of who I am. I’ve known since I was young that I wanted to be a psychologist. I’ve always been the listener in my friend groups and felt emotions deeply. I feel grateful to sit with people during some of their most honest and vulnerable moments.
I’m a San Diegan native, and I’ve loved living in New York City, Palo Alto, and Charlotte. Outside of therapy, I love traveling with friends and family, baking something sweet, and I’m already planning next year’s Super Bowl party.
